WordPad or other Windows 95 applet does not start due to corrupt files.
Cause:
The WordPad (or other applet files) are corrupt.
Solution:
Double-click the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon. Click the 'Windows Setup' tab. Select 'Accessories' from the 'Components' list box. Click 'Details...'. Clear the 'WordPad' check box, and reinstall WordPad.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
3) Double-click the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon. (The 'Add/Remove Programs Properties' dialog box appears.)

4) Click the 'Windows Setup' tab.
5) Select 'Accessories' from the 'Components' list box.
6) Click 'Details...'. (The 'Accessories' dialog box appears.)
7) Clear the 'WordPad' check box.
8) Click 'OK'.
9) Repeat steps 1) to 6).
10) Select 'WordPad' from the 'Components' list box.
11) Click 'OK'.
12) Insert the Windows 95 installation diskette or CD-ROM when prompted to reinstall the application.
